About this event:
Mary Diggin offers a 6 day workshop during Holy Week, La Semana Santa in New Mexico, USA where participants have the opportunity to explore Holy Week through imagery journeys and by participation in the Holy week ceremonies as offered by the Penitente brothers, in a small community in Northern New Mexico.
During the first 2 days of the workshop we will journey deeply into the stories, events and happenings of Holy Week and will explore our own personal intersection with this ritual time.
The themes of loss, suffering, sacrifice as well as resurrection and renewal weave there way through the journeys we will undertake.
The suffering mother, Madre de Dolores, the compassionate and divine feminine is particularly emphasized in this workshop.
What is the healing that needs to take place in me as I participate in this ritual time? Where does my own story most intersect with that of Holy Week? What is to be lost and let go of? what will be renewed and resurrected? How does the Suffering Mother hold me? How do I in turn offer compassion to the world?
From Wednesday afternoon to Friday, the group will take part in the Holy week rituals, ending with the Tinieblas ceremony late on Friday night. We will have the opportunity to be fully participant in the public ceremonies as well as helping with the practical elements of the ritual process.
On Saturday, we will have time for final journeys and if offered, to take part in singing the Gloria with the hermanos.
